Blago's Burst-Miner (Win)

  • Hello Blago. I was wondering why a pc cpu would stop mining after so many years. I can't use miner-v1.170820 as it runs for a couple of seconds and shuts down . I can't even run miner-v1.170750 at all any more as it just sits there looking fo plots. I can't run any avx ones either. I only can run miner-v1.170603 now. My core i5-4570 on Win10

    1. check virus programs
    2. check firewall
    3. is it win 10
    4. cpu heating up or burned out as avx instructions not working.
I can come up with a lot of theories but still not sure why.
even shutting off firewall doesn't solve it

  • @iConnect Could be many things. CPU can be tested so can memory. disks could be faulty with corruption or natural hardware failure even a mistake in your configuration file of the miner. Nature of your complaint warrants a check up of your rig.

@iconnect I've found the miner immediately quitting is due to a 0 byte nonce file in one of the plot directories - I did that a couple of times.

As for sitting there looking for plots - it normally can't find the pool serrver at the name/ip and port.

  • I like Zapbuzz answer better and will check it out. @haitch I ruled yours out as I copied the working miner.conf into all 3 blago miner directories where the only one working was miner-v1.170603. Again all these were working since last year then I went to win10 in December.
Checking drives now and replotting the one 0 nonce plot I have.

I keep you all up to date thxs

  • @iconnect did you set "ShowWinner" : false ?
    (have some bugs)

  • @blago Yes it is set as show winner false. Is that the bug ?

  • @iconnect sometimes crashes when ShowWinner set in true

  • @blago Hi Blago, I love using your miner! But BTFG pool just make a announcement that their pool will no longer support your miner because Blago miner does not have a feature call "Block Height" to cut down on bad deadlines. Anyway you can look into that and get a new release of Blago miner? Thanks!

    Here's the pool owner announcement:
**Latest Jminer release has the new "Block height" system to cut down on bad dls. If you are running Jminer, upgrade to the latest https://github.com/de-luxe/burstcoin-jminer/releases Also, make sure you running the latest creepminer for the same benefit. You will need to compile from source https://github.com/Creepsky/creepMiner/

Blago currently will give potential bad dls on bad blocks. If you running blago, please consider moving to jminer and creepminer. If blago miner does not have the height block fix in by beginning of april, then our pool will no longer officially support the Blago Miner, and our pruning software will be turned off(edited)**

@jretropie Use the "TargetDeadline:" setting to limit the deadlines submitted.

  • @haitch The issue is with fast blocks. With the new POCC code, where shares are based on your average deadline submitted, if a miner submits a deadline right when a block change happens, then the pool will calculate a wrong deadline. If they dont submit a better deadline (example if it is a quick block, or they a smaller miner), they end up with a REALLY crappy dl that sends their average into the crapper for 120 rounds. I run a pruner to handle it, but the POCC code is designed to take block height info into concideration and keep that from happening. But only if the miner sends the block it is submitting the nonce for

  • @blago Okay after further investigation it is windows 10 automatically messing with firewall or defender. Meaning when all versions stop running all I have to do is overwrite the folder with a fresh unzipped copy of your miner program. Then when I launch the exe file the windows firewall box displays. I click okay then its okay and will run solid for weeks. I would imagine this happens every month.
In the future is it something blago could program to avoid this windows issue? Or something as you know my issues and if other have this too.

  • @iConnect you could turn off cloud based protection.....

  • Miner was working fine until a few days ago, now it opens fine, but won't start mining. No changes have been made to any config files.

    Any suggestions?

@eq Problem with the pool you're mining against ?

  • i was surprised to see Blago miner use 100% duty of my 4.1ghz quad core AMD processor whilst mining. Is this due to block difficulty? because the cpu fan is revving up! I set the fan to 70% and I marvel at the temperature when round begins 28 oC but at the end of the round 42 oC it drops quickly back to 28 - 29 oC if I don't manually set cpu fan CPU temp reaches 52oC

  • @zapbuzz See screen shot.
0_1525287248210_1c3d11fa-5208-4610-905c-2184cfa7d507-image.png I only have about 1.9 Ghz speed and I have amd turbo bust on.As my miner shows, speeds and usage can be close to 100%. With your faster speed AMD chip, no wonder your temp goes up, in my opinion. I hope to be wrong? Are you able to monitor CPU speed and Temp. and put them in a file to study? My Cpu is only A10 7300 4cpu + 6gpu. Good luck. Peace. Twin Judge.

  • mines the A10-7890k AMD I believe it could be due to utilising the built in gpu, if I disable it in BIOS and use my add on card for video it should decrease temperature just that at the moment the GPU card is dedicated to something else at the moment but it was idle when I made my post about CPU temperature. But right back to AMD A8 and maybe prior, it wont like mining whilst using the GPU cores for display and won't go to full boost speed without an add on GPU card instead. Heck, jminer is unstable with the built in gpu. I've owned an A8, and that and this A10 just do not want to work with the cpu together efficiently about anything crypto. *4.3ghz boost 4.1 ghz max with built in gpu on.

  • @zapbuzz Good, you know your machine better than I do. One thing to consider is after market cooling? With that high of speed, heat is to be expected. Good luck.

  • I reconfigured, it still running at 100% lol so much for that idea. Last I use Blago miner was around 6 - 7 months ago and it wasn't as CPU intensive as this. Must be time to upgrade lol

  • @blago What about the upcoming PoCC 2 algorithm after the HF, would you support it or is the Burst Miner v1.170820 the last release of the Miner and you are not developing any upcoming compatible version.

    best regards
